Over the weekend, the Carolina Panthers went to free agency to add some depth to the roster as training camp continues.

After hosting former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown on a tryout, the team signed him and waived defensive back Kiondre Thomas in a corresponding move. The team also signed safety Clayton Isbell and waived tight end Curtis Hodges.

Brown was a sixth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2016 who carved out a nice career for himself in Dallas over the course of seven seasons. More recently, he appeared on the depth chart with the San Francisco 49ers last year while working his way back from a torn Achilles that ended his 2022 campaign.

At cornerback, Jaycee Horn has a lock on the No. 1 spot, with Dane Jackson the current leader to sit as No. 2 on the depth chart. DiCaprio Bootle, D'Shawn Jamsion, and Lamar Jackson also remain in the competition.

Given the desire for roster turnover and improved depth, Brown is a savvy veteran free-agent addition and probably not the last move from the Panthers of this nature in the coming weeks.
