Norwin Public Library Concludes Popular Children’s Summer Reading Program with Art Gala
The Norwin Public Library's nine week Children's Summer Reading Program, "Adventure Begins at Your Library", came to a conclusion on August 14th with a Children's Art Gala. Seventy-nine children submitted original pieces of art for the event. A record number of children – 1,047 -participated in this year's program. Throughout the nine-week program, children were encouraged to read every day and track their weekly progress. Children borrowed 19,616 books in June and July and 2,728 children and their caregivers attended one of 40 educational children's programs offered this summer. The Children's Summer Reading program was sponsored by the Friends of the Norwin Public Library. State of Black Learning Recap
The State of Black Learning Conference wrapped just a few days ago, and Black staff and educators are still raving about the success of the multiple day event. "This was my first time attending the State of Black Learning (SBL), because I recently received my teaching certification. I heard about the event from one of my fellow educator friends, and I'm so happy she did. My favorite part was connecting with educators that look like me and the wealth of knowledge people had," Serenity Sampson said.
