According to Evergy, the outage developed in Cottonwood Falls Sunday morning affecting better than 382 residents just after 10:50 am. Evergy stated there was damage to several power poles and wires within the town as a result of high winds that came through with morning storms.

Chase County alumni weekend set for June 29-30
The Chase County 2024 alumni weekend is set for June 29 and 30. Past Chase County graduates are encouraged to attend a weekend of celebrations, starting on Saturday with a downtown parade in Cottonwood Falls at 11 a.m. Classes participating in the parade will line up at the high school by 10:40 a.m.

A jury trial date is now on the docket for a father-son duo accused of taking drugs and drug operation equipment across Chase County this past winter. Duff Kindt, age 75 of Stout, Ohio, and Seth Kindt, age 47 of Inglis, Florida, are now set for trial beginning Sept. 16. Before the start of trial, pretrial hearings are also now set for both defendants Sept. 9.

Topeka man taken to Emporia hospital after Tuesday crash in Chase County
EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - A man was taken to an area hospital following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 35 along the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County, officials said. The crash was reported at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-35 on the turnpike, about 15 miles southwest of Emporia.
