CHATHAM, NJ -- Chatham displayed its spirit of 1776 with the town's 70th Independence Day Parade down Main Street and concluded with the Fourth of July Fireworks behind the middle school on Thursday night.

Current Chatham Borough Fire Chief Peter Glogolich , a 42-year member of the department, was honored as the Grand Marshal for the parade, organized each year by the Chatham Fire Department Association.

The Chatham Borough High Class of 1974 claimed a spot on the parade route, gathering on the lawn of Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Children were showered with candy from the parade participants and entertained by the Independent Hose Company, carrying on the tradition started by George "Skip" Conlan in 1955, and revived by Jeff Davis in 2022.

Marching bands in the parade included the Essex County Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipe Band; the Rory O'Moore School of Pipes and Drums, and the Bloomingdale Cornet Band (see videos below).

Chatham's Fourth of July celebration was capped off by the fireworks display behind the Chatham Middle School (see below).
