Shooting on North Willow Street left one person with with non-life-threatening injuries, 3 in custody

Chattanooga, TN – On June 11, Chattanooga Police responded to a shots-fired call in the 500 block of North Willow Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 25-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries.

Within 21 seconds of receiving the call, investigators at the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) began reviewing public safety camera footage for evidence. RTIC Investigator Robertson identified the suspects and their vehicle on a CPD public safety camera, promptly alerting all Chattanooga Police officers.

Shortly after the shooting, a CPD officer spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop with blue lights and sirens. The driver did not comply, leading to a police pursuit that ended with a crash in the 1900 block of South Orchard Knob Avenue. The vehicle’s three occupants fled on foot, but CPD officers apprehended all three suspects.

CPD’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspects arrived in the 2100 block of Cleveland Avenue in a stolen white Infiniti Q50. Two suspects exited the vehicle and began shooting at a victim outside a residence, while the driver waited in the vehicle. After the shooting, the suspects returned to the Infiniti and drove away. The suspects apprehended by CPD matched the description of those involved in the shooting.

Arrest warrants were obtained for the suspects on multiple charges. Scovia Gladden (18) and Gregory C. Johnson III (21) are charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder. Jamarius Wilson (18) is charged with Criminal Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, Felony Evading, and Theft Over $10,000.
