Buffalo Animal Shelter hosting a reduced-fee adoption event this weekend
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter is holding a reduced-fee adoption event on Saturday. Fees are about $100 for dogs and $65 for cats, according to their Facebook post. It includes spay or neuter, vaccines, a bag of pet food, and a free first vet visit.

Owl trapped in manure lagoon is rescued
ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — A baby screech owl was rescued earlier this week in Cheektowaga after it left its home before it was ready. Now comes another owl rescue, which also happened in Erie County. An owl that was trapped in a manure lagoon was rescued with help from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Center.

The 2024 Disability Pride Festival at Canalside coincides with the 34th anniversary of the passing of the landmark legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA. “Today we celebrate that and the many other contributions of people with disabilities,” said Sophia Roberts of the Self Advocacy Association of NYS. “We combat stigma and discrimination against people with disabilities by celebrating all of who we are. Buffalo is home to some very talented people whose lives are touched by disability.
