A man accused of breaking into a Chehalis home, in violation of a court order, and barricading himself in the garage on Wednesday is facing a felony burglary charge.

Eric James Howard Mounce Jr., 36, of Chehalis, was arrested for breaking into a home in the 600 block of Southwest 20th Street and barricading himself in the garage at approximately 7:55 p.m. on July 3, according to court documents and Chehalis Police Department call logs.

A court-issued no-contact order prohibiting Mounce from coming within 1,000 feet of a child in the home was in effect at the time of the incident.

The child’s mother advised police she was “worried the male will kill them all,” according to Chehalis police call logs.

“Out of fear for their safety, the children of the residence were locked in a room, with the exception of (the child protected by the no-contact order), who was taken to a neighbor’s house,” according to court documents.

Mounce was reportedly arrested for a domestic violence offense at the same residence on June 29, according to court documents.

Lewis County Jail records indicate he was booked into the jail at 8:10 p.m. on July 3.

He was charged Friday, July 5, with one count each of residential burglary and violation of a court order.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, July 11.
