    Sirens: Man arrested for robbery after assaulting employee; caller says police were rude; backpack thrown through store window

    CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Unattended children

    • Two kids were reportedly left alone in a running car parked in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:10 a.m. on July 5. An adult returned to the vehicle while the reporting party was on the phone with police.

    Animal negligence/abuse

    • A dog was reportedly inside a locked car with the windows barely cracked in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 6:45 p.m. on July 7.

    • A man reportedly hit and choked a kitten on a leash at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:40 p.m. on July 8.

    Death investigations

    • A death reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard at 11:20 a.m. on July 5 is under investigation.

    • A death reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard just after 11:35 a.m. on July 5 is under investigation.

    • A death reported in the 700 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just after 1:55 p.m. on July 7 is under investigation.

    Burglary

    • A man was arrested for second-degree burglary just after 1:55 p.m. on July 5 after he allegedly broke into his parent’s house in the 700 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue, stole a blanket and rifled through the liquor cabinet.

    Hit-and-run

    • A hit and-run was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 2:45 p.m. on July 5.

    • A hit-and-run reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on July 5 is under investigation.

    Theft

    • A man reportedly stole over $750 in items from a business in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at 5:55 p.m. on July 5 and fled in a gray Camry.

    • A man reportedly stole $150 a nd two folding pocket knives from a camper’s wallet at the campgrounds of the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just after 7 a.m. on July 6. The same subject was possibly seen circling the campground on a bicycle at about 10:25 p.m. on July 6.

    • A vehicle theft was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 3:50 p.m. on July 7.

    • Just after 5:45 p.m. on July 7, a citizen reported a phone was stolen about an hour prior. The citizen used an app to track it to a restaurant in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive.

    • A vehicle theft reported in the 100 block of Southwest 11th Street at 10:45 a.m. on July 8 is under investigation.

    • A subject was cited for third-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:50 p.m. on July 9.

    Robbery

    • Dillon James Clark was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree robbery after he allegedly assaulted an employee at a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and stole items from the store at 5:35 p.m. on July 9. He had a preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court scheduled for 4 p.m. on July 10.

    Disorderly conduct

    • A man reportedly yelled at employees and laid on the floor of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:55 p.m. on July 5. Staff “figured it out internally,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.

    • A woman was reportedly acting disorderly at a business in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 11:25 p.m. on July 7.

    Criminal trespass

    • A man who entered a business in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 1:25 a.m. on July 6, demanded a room and refused to leave when denied was trespassed from the business.

    • A disorderly man was trespassed from a business in the 200 block of West Main Street just after 4:10 p.m. on July 6.

    • A disorderly man was trespassed from a business in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 8:05 a.m. on July 7.

    • A homeless man who was sitting in front of a business in the 600 block of North National Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on July 7 was trespassed from the business.

    • A homeless man reportedly approached staff at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street, asked for help, then tried to break into cars in the staff parking lot. He was trespassed from the facility.

    • A criminal trespass reported in the 1200 block of Bishop Road just after 12:20 p.m. on July 9 is under investigation.

    Harassment

    • A former tenant was reportedly harassing other tenants in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10:55 p.m. on July 5.

    • A citizen in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported a group of friends was harassing her just before 6:55 a.m. on July 8, telling her “that she needs to be experimented on” and that they “will kill her cats.”

    • Just before 11 p.m. on July 9, a citizen in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported she “was threatened and told they were going to eat her liver.” The subject also threatened the reporting party’s cats.

    Scam

    • A scam involving someone calling from a California number threatening to kill the reporting party and their family was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Street just before 8:35 a.m. on July 6.

    Suspicious circumstances

    • Just after 10:35 a.m. on July 6, a resident in the 1100 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue reported someone was banging on her walls and windows at about midnight the night prior.

    • At 2:50 p.m. on July 6, a man in the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue reported unknown subjects “all around the building” wanted to burn him alive. The man reported the subjects were chasing him around town. An officer responded and reported it appeared to be a drug or mental health-related issue. The man was given a courtesy transport to Centralia.

    • A caller in the 1900 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue reported hearing a saw running at approximately 10:35 p.m. on July 6.

    • A caller reported “the f***king cartel or something” was after him in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just before 12:10 a.m. on July 8. The caller advised he heard people outside his room, saying “it’s a recording but they’re saying (they’re) going to blow my head off.”

    • A green Ford Explorer was reportedly pulling a trailer full of bicycles in circles around the block in the 600 block of Northwest Middle Street just after 12:10 a.m. on July 9.

    • Just before 10:25 a.m. on July 9, a man in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard reported multiple members of his family had been murdered and said “he thinks the suspects are now in Lewis County trying to find him” and “have followed him around the last couple days.” He was advised to seek mental health crisis services.

    Drug violation

    • A subject was cited for a drug violation in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:35 a.m. on July 7.

    Malicious mischief

    • Graffiti was reported in the kitchen area of a business in the 1500 block of Rice Road at 8:45 a.m. on July 7.

    Dispute

    • A possible DUI involving a female drunk driver with a 5-year-old in the backseat was reported at the intersection of Southwest Chehalis Avenue and Southwest James Street just after 7:30 p.m. on July 7. The 911 call was later determined to be part of a dispute between the reporting party and the female driver. The 5-year-old was ultimately treated at the hospital for an injured arm. No arrests were made.

    Rude officers

    • A citizen in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street called just after 8:50 p.m. on July 7 to report others had made “false accusations” against her and said she “wanted to report (that) officers were rude when dealing with her and her daughter.”

    Vehicle accidents

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on July 8.

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest William Avenue and Southwest Sixth Street just after 6:05 p.m. on July 9. One driver reported the other driver forced them off the road.

    Sexual misconduct

    • A case of third-degree rape reproted in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just before 4:35 p.m. on July 9 is under investigation.

    CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Assault

    • An 18-year-old Centralia man accused of kicking a garbage can that then struck a family member during a dispute in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 2:50 p.m. on July 8 has been referred on fourth-degree assault charges.

    • A 62-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault in the 800 block of West Pine Street just before 4:25 p.m. on July 8.

    Criminal trespass

    • A 40-year-old homeless Rochester man was cited for trespassing at a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5:40 p.m. on July 8. He was also arrested on several outstanding warrants.

    • A homeless Centralia man was trespassed from a business in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue for disorderly conduct just after 8:40 p.m. on July 9.

    Malicious mischief

    • A 46-year-old Portland man was arrested for throwing his backpack through a store window in the 100 block of West Maple Street at approximately 9:10 p.m. on July 8.

    Burglary

    • At approximately 9:05 a.m. on July 9, a burglary to a storage unit in the 200 block of East Main Street that occurred about a week prior was reported.

    • At approximately 5:10 p.m. on July 9, a burglary to a residence in the 100 block of Purvis Avenue that occurred within the last 10 days was reported. Power tools were reported stolen.

    DUI

    • A 40-year-old Wyoming woman was arrested in the 800 block of state Route 507 for DUI after she got her vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks at approximately 11:25 p.m. on July 9.

    • A 34-year-old Centralia woman was cited for DUI after she crashed into a pole at the intersection of Mt. Vista Road and Allen Avenue just after 4:50 a.m. on July 10. She was released to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical care.

    FIRE AND EMS CALLS

    • Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 55 illness-related calls, 19 injury-related calls, 16 fire-related calls, three vehicle accidents, four non-emergency service calls, one hazardous conditions report, two overdoses, one public assist request, two medical helicopter requests and three other calls.

    JAIL STATISTICS

    • As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 124 inmates, including 111 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 85 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

    • As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of nine inmates, including four booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the Skokomish Tribe.
