The School Committee met to discuss changes to various policies, including a new cellphone and related electronic devices policy, at its meeting on Thursday. At the beginning of the meeting, Committee Chair Kate DePrizio said she had heard some confusion, and clarified the meeting was only for discussion and there would be no votes taken.
City Council postpones action on former Everett High; approves Feasibility Study for new High School
The Everett City Council voted to postpone action on appropriating $10 million for a new roof on the old Everett High School – located at 548 Broadway – pending more information on how much it would cost to renovate the building to house seventh- and eighth-graders, but approved a $2 million request for a Feasibility Study for a new High School at their meeting Monday, June 24. The vote on the roof funding was 7-4 with Councillors-at-Large John Hanlon and Katy Rogers, Ward 1 Councillor Wayne Matewsky and Ward 3 Councillor Anthony DiPierro in dissent. The vote on the money for the Feasibility Study was 9-2 with Councillors-at-Large Guerline Alcy Jabouin and Michael Marchese in opposition.

Winthrop High School’s athletic director, a 2005 Saugus High School graduate, resigns to take Saugus AD job. Saugus High School hockey Hall of Famer Matthew Serino – the son of the late Sachems sports legend for whom the Christie Serino Jr. Memorial Stadium is named – has been hired as the Saugus School Department’s new Athletic and Wellness Director. Matthew Serino, who had worked for close to a decade as the athletic director of Winthrop High School, began working for his hometown School Department this week. He replaces Terri Pillsbury, who had been the athletic director since 2018. Her contract was not renewed.

Below is an announcement from Wilmington Community Television:. WCTV Announces: Advanced Filmmakers Summer Sessions. This four week program is for returning WCTV high school students and middle school students. Students will create an original video project, from brainstorming to completion. They will collaborate on storyboard ideas, scripts and sets and will also learn advanced skills necessary to film and edit their project. Sessions will run from 10A-4P daily. Student-athletes in the Pentucket Regional School District will find a new athletic director at the helm when the new school year begins. Jonathan Amico, formerly assistant AD in Wilmington, will lead Pentucket’s athletics programs, said Superintendent Justin Bartholomew. He held the assistant athletic director post for three years in Wilmington, and was the high school’s boys basketball coach. He also created and coached a Unified Basketball team.
