Victoria M. Corcoran of Holliston Earns Degree from University of Maryland Global Campus
ADELPHI, MD (07/24/2024)– Victoria M. Corcoran of Holliston, earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Maryland Global Campus in spring 2024. Corcoran was one of more than 14,000 students worldwide who earned degrees from UMGC in the 2023-24. Graduates came from all 50 states, three U.S. territories, and 24 countries.
Football scandal triggers wave of school hires, abrupt removal of security chief
This past December, Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria posted an ad for a new head football coach. On Feb. 12, Darryl Overton, a championship football coach from across county lines at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, took the position, bringing with him an estimated 30-plus football players transferring to Hayfield from Freedom and at least three other area schools.

Al Carey embodies the spirit of Maryland Athletics. He’s a distinguished leader who continues to make a difference at the University of Maryland. The Long Island native was a track and field distance runner in College Park from 1969-74 before becoming a board member and CEO of several major United States companies. Most importantly, his attention stayed within the track and his alma mater. Carey is a member of the University of Maryland Board of Trustees and has pledged millions of dollars to the university.
