Syracuse, N.Y. — If the 96-gallon trash cart Syracuse households received last year isn’t big enough, residents will soon be able to get a second container. Owego resident rescued from fire on William Street
One resident was rescued and his home was damaged by a fire in the Village of Owego last Thursday. According to the Owego Fire Department, a neighbor called in the fire on William Street at around 6:45 p.m. on July 18th. Owego Deputy Fire Chief Mike Hopkins arrived on the scene and requested a second alarm for a working structure fire. He was informed by a neighbor that one person was still inside the home.
YWCA of Binghamton Awarded $40,000
$40,000 has been awarded to the YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County's ENCOREplus Program. Senator Lea Webb made the announcement Monday morning. The funds come from the state, and will be used to aid breast and cervical health outreach, education, and advocacy programs. The ENCOREplus Program offers educational workshops and assists both un-insured and under-insured women in receiving screenings for breast and cervical cancer.

17 cameras are busting speeders on several roads in the Empire State this week. One of them is back in Central New York. The radar was installed as part of legislation, signed into law in September 2022.
