Cheney High School child sex abuse victim speaks out 40 years later

CHENEY, Wash. - Nearly 40 years after a teacher abused one of his students at Cheney High School, the school district is forced to pay the victim millions of dollars.

That same teacher, band director Michael Alstad, then went on to abuse at least two other girls at a different Washington school. It was a civil suit brought on by one of those women that changed the life of Alstad's Cheney High School victim.

In a 4 News Now Special Report, Robyn Nance helps tell the story of the woman who was abused all those years ago by Alstad at Cheney High School.

You will hear how the abuse started, everything that situation put her through and what she believed was the one thing that could have saved her so much anguish and could help save many more kids too.

Watch the Special Report Tuesday, July 16, on Good Morning Northwest.
