Cherokee County Services Affected by Global IT Issue

Some of Cherokee County's services have been disrupted by the global CrowdStrike outage Friday, the county announced.
E-911 computer systems were briefly affected, the county reported, but phone lines were not affected and staff implemented a backup plan and received and dispatched all 911 calls.
"Our IT Team has employees on call 24/7 and began working immediately when the problem was reported just after 4 a.m.," a news release from the county reads in part. "All critical services are operational. The issue has not affected emergency services calls for Fire or the Sheriff’s Office due to implementation of existing back up plans the county has in place."
For general county offices, all servers are operational and about 85% of desktops are down, the county reported, but critical departments are operational, and the IT department was working throughout the day to fix issues.
As of 12:35 p.m., the county's IT department was reporting 90% completion on resolutions to the CrowdStrike issues, and by 3:20 p.m. the county reported all servers and all but a few pieces of equipment were up and running, excluding the tax commissioner's office.
Tax Commissioner
The Cherokee County Tax Commissioner's Office, which runs on a state system, was unable to process transactions and closed at noon Friday. The office plans to open at 8 a.m. Monday.
The state Department of Revenue notified the Tax Commissioner’s Office at 7:36 a.m. that the system is down; a timeline for resolution was not immediately available. For more information, contact Georgia DOR.
Clerk of Courts
The Cherokee County Clerk of Courts is not accepting electronic payments for any fees or fines Friday, including court payments and passport fees Cash or money orders can be accepted. All payment options are expected to resume Monday, July 22.
