AMES, Iowa – Iowa has had a wide range of weather in the past few weeks, with areas of extreme flooding in the northwest part of the state. As the waters begin to recede, there are many considerations people are making. WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa (FOX 9) - A storm sent debris flying into traffic in Windsor Heights, Iowa, on Monday as a tornado moved through the region. Kevin Grimes captured video on his dashcam of the scene while he drove through the storm. Footage of the chaos shows downed trees, damaged street signs, power flashes and captured the sound of tornado sirens.
First Ever State Record Fish in Iowa
(Lewis) Starting January 1, there will be a new list of state record fish to attempt to get in addition to the original list. On Saturday morning, DNR Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen’s DNR Report on KSOM, the state conservation commission, established a set of records of large Iowa fish caught by anglers in June 1962, thus beginning the official list of State Record Fish. Interestingly, the first record submitted was from a seven-pound, four-ounce, 22.5-inch largemouth bass caught at Cold Springs Park southwest of Lewis.
