Cyclist Killed in SW Cherokee Crash

A cyclist was fatally struck while traveling along Woodstock Road in southwest Cherokee County Friday night, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office announced.

CSO deputies responded to the call the evening of Aug. 16 to a motor vehicle crash involving a cyclist on Woodstock Road near Wood Creek Way, in southwest Cherokee near Acworth. The investigation revealed that a Ford truck traveling south on Woodstock Road struck a cyclist who was also traveling southbound during low light conditions and heavy rain.

The cyclist, Koalten Hesseling, 27, of Acworth, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone where he later died from his injuries.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
