Virginia house parties were a lot of fun

A.J. Johnson portrayed Sharane in the original House Party film (1990), which starred Kid n Play, AKA Christopher Reid, Christopher Martin, and Tisha Campbell.

House parties are a favorite with many Virginia Baby Boomers because we attended them, living out the phrase "party over here, party over there." An address would be given in a hometown or neighboring cities or counties, and everyone went whether we knew the hosts or not.

    Thanks for the memories

According to Afro Tech, Johnson recently revealed she only earned $4,000 for her role in House Party, which grossed $26,000. She says she made more money by selling her rights to the iconic party scene for a Burger King commercial.

Johnson says she enjoyed her experience and has lasting memories from House Party. Boomers had fun attending house parties in Virginia, and in my neck of the woods, no one's life was ever in danger as far as I know.

Sadly times have changed and going to homes where you don't kno anyone would not be wise.
