World War II was the last time Mass. residents could set off their own fireworks
While it used to have the company of a few other states, Massachusetts is now the only U.S. state with a full ban on consumer fireworks. In the Bay State, private citizens cannot possess, sell or use fireworks of any kind, including sparklers and firecrackers. According to CBS News, the state’s ban has existed since 1943, meaning World War II was the last time Massachusetts residents were able to use fireworks for personal displays.
Massachusetts police warn of scheme being used to steal packages being delivered to homes
Porch pirates are nothing new in Massachusetts, however, their tactics have changed to become a little more sophisticated. The Westminster Police Department recently took reports of thefts of delivered packages from FedEx and Amazon. These reports are very similar with a typically high-valued package being delivered and within minutes of the delivery, a suspect is seen approaching the house carrying a box or a bag and will either take the package or trade an empty box for an item that was delivered.
