Troy — An after school education center in Troy could be forced to close as soon as this fall, saying their State Grant funding will not be renewed. The Ark, located in North Central Troy, serves 55 families right now, and for the last 10 years, 95 percent of its budget has come from State Grant money. Mass. driver charged in crash WHITINGHAM- A Cheshire, MA, resident was arrested following a crash on Route 100 at about 12:57 am on Friday, June 28. Police say when they arrived on the scene and spoke with the driver, Nakiya Harrison-Hubbard, they observed signs of impairment. She was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and brought to Wilmington Police Department where she was processed, issued a citation, and released. Harrison-Hubbard is scheduled to appear at Windham Criminal Court on Tuesday, July 16, to answer the charge.
State awards Construct with $3.1 million grant for Cassilis Farm
Great Barrington — Construct Inc., the leading nonprofit provider of affordable housing and support services in the Southern Berkshires, has been awarded a $3.1 million grant from the Healey-Driscoll administration’s 2024 Affordable Housing Development program. The state funds will help construct and subsidize 11 units at Cassilis Farm, a Gilded Age estate in New Marlborough, making them affordable to families and workers at or below 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).
