Seven dead puppies have been found dumped on a golf course in Pennsylvania . More than half a dozen of the animals were discovered near the ninth hole of Ingleside Golf Course in Chester County on Monday, July 22.

The puppies appeared to be from the same litter , pit bull terrier mix, and were aged from six to eight weeks old. The pooches were located near the ninth hole of the golf course, approximately 130 yards off the US Route 30 bypass.

It is believed the puppies' remains were left there by a person, or a group of people, within 12-18 hours of being discovered. Officials did not say how the dogs died.

Brandywine Valley SPCA is assisting with the investigation . A spokesperson told NBC10 the incident was a "really sad situation".

They continued: "All we can hope is someone may know something. These animals deserved better than to be treated like trash ."

BVSPCA has an anonymous tip line available for anyone who may know something. Anyone with information who wants to contact police is asked to call Caln Township Police at 610-383-1821 or 610-383-7000.
