Connecticut Implements Mandatory 'Inclusivity' Training for Cosmetologists
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont last month signed a law mandating that cosmetologists in the state receive training on how to cut hair in an "inclusive" way. "It's about social justice, it's about inclusivity," said state Sen. Patricia Billie Miller (D–Stamford), who championed the bill. "It's about making sure there is equity because I was one of those individuals where doors were closed on me."
Spanish Wine Importer Visits Madison
Slocum & Sons welcomed Monica Ordóñez of Jorge Ordóñez Selections to an enthusiastic group of consumers at Madison Wine Exchange in Madison on May 23. She presented the portfolio of family-owned wineries from Spain to guests for tasting and education. Founded in 1987 by Jorge Ordóñez, the company was the first national specialty importer of Spanish wines, distributed in Connecticut by Slocum & Sons. Of particular interest that night was Quadrum Rosé, a premium boxed rosé wine that is 50/50 Tempranillo/Garnacha from La Mancha made by Monica and her brother Victor.
Rustica Hosts Angelini Wines for Italian-Pairing Dinner
Angelini Wine Ltd. showcased selections from its Italian wine imports during a pairing dinner at Rustica Ristorante in Chester on May 24. The five-course meal paired Livon Pinot Grigio Grande 2022, Il Borro Borrorosa 2023, Piazzo Barolo Valente 2019, Palagetto Bellarina Brunello di Montalcino 2018 and Angelini Brachetto d’Acqui 2023 with fine Italian cuisine handcrafted by the Rustica team led by Owners Conchi and Vicente Contreras. The wines were presented with each course by Angelini Wine Ltd. Co-owner Julius Angelini.
