POSSIBILITY OF NEW TAX DISCUSSED BY COUNCIL
(Richmond, IN)--During Monday night’s meeting of Richmond Common Council, there was some discussion of tax increment financing – or TIF. Here’s Council member Jerry Purcell talking about what could potentially lie ahead: "There is the opportunity for us - and I know how everyone feels about new taxes - but to approve a public safety tax." And, here’s why: "We're looking at a lot of big projects. The infrastructure is crumbling in our downtown. I think we have to be upfront and honest with the public," Purcell said. COUNCIL TO ADDRESS URANUS
(Richmond, IN)--On Friday, Kicks 96 and 101.7 The Point News reported that Richmond Common Council will again be addressing the proposed Smith Hill housing project when they meet Monday night. But that’s not the only development project on the agenda. Council will also be addressing a zoning change that’s necessary to advance the Uranus project at the former New Creations property on the state line. The opening date has now been pushed back. Uranus was supposed to be open already, but its website now says the store is targeted to open by December but not be fully complete for about a year. Council meets at 7 Monday night. PODCAST TO FOCUS ON NIQUI McCOWN
(Richmond, IN)--A new podcast is being released about Niqui McCown – the Richmond bride-to-be who has not been seen for 23 years. It’s being produced by WKEF-TV and takes an in-depth look at the case from its beginning to where it stands today. It’s called “Missing: Niqui McCown” and it debuts Monday, July 22nd on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Monday will be the 23-year mark since her disappearance.
