FAIRFIELD TWP. - A Rockaway man was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle at about 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, on Little Falls Road. Police said a caller from a business on Daniel Road East had reported seeing a motor vehicle burglary incident on the business' security cameras and a description of the man, later identified as Matthew Logan, 29, was provided to the officers on duty.
Geneva Davis
Geneva Davis died surrounded by her loving family on July 15, 2024. Geneva was born in Kingston, Tennessee to Edna Smith and Ralph Workman and raised in Sheffield, Pennsylvania and later moved to Greens Fork, Indiana during her childhood. She was a life long resident of Wayne County. She was a 1948 graduate of Greens Fork High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Howard Davis, whom she married and had five daughters. She was a farmer’s wife and often worked in the fields in her early life along side her husband and bragged she was working on her tan. She was retired from the U.S. Post Office and was a mail carrier for the town of Hagerstown and later a letter sorter for the Muncie Post Office until age 62. She was proud of being named Mother of the Year as a result of a nomination from her dear daughter, Polly.

'Something I've wanted': After close calls, Annie Rodenfels wins Women's 6K Championships
CANTON — There are no more wait till next years for Annie Rodenfels. The Centerville native can finally cross winning the Women's 6K Championships race off her list. After a few close calls, Rodenfels took home gold Saturday morning in downtown Canton. She won the fourth annual USA Track & Field event in 18:03.
GPD and SRT Team arrest wanted Greenville man
On July 12th, 2024, Officers of the Greenville Police Department received multiple tips on the location of Jesse York, 28 of Greenville, who had an active warrant for his arrest through the Greenville Police Department for Domestic Violence. At approximately 11:46pm, Officers observed York through a window on the second floor of his residence, located at 205 Cypress Street. From one of the previous tip calls, Officers had been advised that York was stating he was going to shoot anyone outside.
SMITH HILL DEVELOPMENT SENT BACK TO PLAN COMMISSION WITH REVISIONS
(Richmond, IN)--Richmond Common Council met Monday night and briefly addressed a zoning ordinance involving the proposed Smith Hill development near South 37th and Backmeyer Roads. "This proposal maintains the detached single-family houses that were included in the previous request while eliminating the apartments that were proposed on the northwest portion of the development along South 37th. Additionally, the current request excludes all commercial exceptions, which eliminates the day care facility that was originally included, said the city’s planning director. The issue goes back to the Plan Commission March 24. It will then likely come back to council on August 5.
Joyful Jets July meeting held
ARCANUM – On July 9, 2024 the Joyful Jets 4-H Club met at Trinity Methodist Church in Arcanum for a regularly scheduled 4-H meeting. The meeting started with a game led by Recreations Leader, Hudson Wehrley. Vice President, Brooklyn Miller, called the meeting to order and led the pledges and motto. Secretary, Cheyenne Swisher, did roll call and read minutes from the previous meeting. The Treasurers Report was given by Caleb Wiant.

It’s being produced by WKEF-TV and takes an in-depth look at the case from its beginning to where it stands today. It’s called “Missing: Niqui McCown” and it debuts Monday, July 22nd on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Monday will be the 23-year mark since her disappearance.

David Allen Thomas
David Allen Thomas, age 86 of Farmland, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 14, 2024. He was born in a house on Abington Pike on July 3, 1938, to Willard and Alice Stanley Thomas and lived on the Thomas homeplace on Inke Rd. for several years. David graduated from Fountain City High School in the class of 1957. He served 35 years in the military service starting in the Air Force and retiring from the Army, he served during many conflicts and 3 wars including Vietnam, the Cold War and Desert Storm. He also worked for the state highway for 20 years, whether it was plowing snow or cutting grass, David would do what was needed to complete the job. David was a loving husband to his wife of 63 years Julia Sheppard Thomas to whom he married on March 12, 1961.
