'Something I've wanted': After close calls, Annie Rodenfels wins Women's 6K Championships
CANTON — There are no more wait till next years for Annie Rodenfels. The Centerville native can finally cross winning the Women's 6K Championships race off her list. After a few close calls, Rodenfels took home gold Saturday morning in downtown Canton. She won the fourth annual USA Track & Field event in 18:03.
Reid Health celebrates 5 years of improvements in Connersville
As Monday became Tuesday on a mid-July night in 2019, a new era began for Connersville’s century-old hospital. Outside the facility, there was a flurry of activity as new signage went up to formalize the transition from Fayette Regional Health System to Reid Health – Connersville.
David Allen Thomas
David Allen Thomas, age 86 of Farmland, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 14, 2024. He was born in a house on Abington Pike on July 3, 1938, to Willard and Alice Stanley Thomas and lived on the Thomas homeplace on Inke Rd. for several years. David graduated from Fountain City High School in the class of 1957. He served 35 years in the military service starting in the Air Force and retiring from the Army, he served during many conflicts and 3 wars including Vietnam, the Cold War and Desert Storm. He also worked for the state highway for 20 years, whether it was plowing snow or cutting grass, David would do what was needed to complete the job. David was a loving husband to his wife of 63 years Julia Sheppard Thomas to whom he married on March 12, 1961.
Joyce N. Tipton
Joyce N. Tipton, age 81, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, July 13, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Born July 16, 1942, in Livingston, Kentucky, to John and Kitty Bell Smith Sams, Joyce had lived in this area since she was a teenager. She worked in environmental services at Reid Health for many years. After retiring, she worked as an ambassador at Fairfield Inn. Joyce enjoyed working around her yard, keeping her flower beds clean and taking care of others. She was a member of the Free Pentecostal Victory Tabernacle.
Ohio EPA responds to non-hazardous material spill at Darke County BASF facility
GREENVILLE, Ohio (WKEF) -- Ohio EPA was on scene Thursday, July 11 after an inadvertent release of a non-hazardous material happened at a Darke County facility. BASF's Greenville site became aware of the release from a storage tank on-site, and plant personnel responded immediately to begin mitigation and cleanup, according to a BASF spokesperson.

GPD and SRT Team arrest wanted Greenville man
On July 12th, 2024, Officers of the Greenville Police Department received multiple tips on the location of Jesse York, 28 of Greenville, who had an active warrant for his arrest through the Greenville Police Department for Domestic Violence. At approximately 11:46pm, Officers observed York through a window on the second floor of his residence, located at 205 Cypress Street. From one of the previous tip calls, Officers had been advised that York was stating he was going to shoot anyone outside.

Hernandez Signs With Softball Program
OXFORD, Ohio – After a stellar two-year stint at Phoenix College, Danitza Hernandez has signed on to play for the Miami softball team in 2025. Hernandez comes to southwest Ohio after compiling a .427 career batting average, to go along with 45 home runs and 159 RBI in 115 games with the Bears. This past season she hit .432 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI en route to earning NJCAA Division II Second-Team All-American accolades. RTHS to host car show at Hardscrabble Park
CLAYTON — The 2024 Randolph Township Historical Society will hold its annual car show Saturday, July 27, from 3 p.m. to dusk at Hardscrabble Park in Clayton. The fee to enter a car is $10, but admission is free for spectators. There will be prizes for the cars, food trucks, vendors, raffle prizes, and games such as a cane toss, a glassware toss, a duck pond, a lollipop tree for kids (lollipops with prizes according to the color of the lollipop stick), and a toy duck race in the creek. (Connersville, IN)--Reid Health is observing five years of improvements and upgrades in Connersville. And, with it, they’ve updated a timeline for their new facility on Park Road. Five years ago on Tuesday is when Fayette Regional Health System became Reid Health Connersville. On Friday, construction crews poured the concrete slab for what will be a $100 million state-of-the-art facility. The 106,000 square foot facility is now expected to be complete by the spring of 2026.
