Ready to Roll: Chester River Health Foundation Funds Dedicated Ambulance for Transport of Patients Across the Eastern Shore
With the beautiful rural counties that make up Maryland’s Eastern Shore comes an inherent challenge – how to transport patients needing medical care in a timely fashion. Often, trips between University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) facilities can take several hours. Faced with this challenge, the University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation (UM CRHF) worked on a solution with UM SRH’s parent organization, the University of Maryland Medical System.

July 4th; Parade 6:30 p.m. Fireworks 9:15 p.m. Join this patriotic salute to our nation with marching bands, old and new fire engines, cars and vans, service clubs, and scouts! ROUTE: The parade kicks off at Amos Garrett and West Street. We'll head down West Street, the wrong way around Church Circle, and down Main Street. Anywhere along the parade route will provide a good view of the parade. Annapolis launches its fireworks from a barge in Annapolis Harbor. Begin lining up at 8:00 PM for the best view. Viewing areas include public spaces Northeast of the Severn River, City Dock, along the Naval Academy Bridge (limited parking area), any of the street end parks facing Spa Creek, and aboard a boat in the Annapolis harbor.

Here’s how to mark the Fourth of July across Maryland with free concerts, face painting, food vendors and, of course, fireworks. Annapolis, July 4, 6:30 p.m. The City of Annapolis’ parade kicks off at Amos Garrett and West Street at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin from a barge in Annapolis Harbor around 9:15 p.m., viewable from public spaces including the northeast area of Severn River and City Dock along Naval Academy Bridge. The Spa Creek Bridge will be closed to traffic from Eastport into Annapolis from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

BALTIMORE -- A police chase that started in Anne Arundel County turned deadly Tuesday after two people were killed in a fiery crash in southeast Washington, DC. Anne Arundel County Police said officers spotted a vehicle allegedly used in multiple armed robberies across the DMV area when they began pursuit. Maryland takes control of historic Pimlico Race Course as it prepares for makeover
BALTIMORE -- The state of Maryland has officially taken ownership of Baltimore's historic Pimlico Race Course as it plans to redevelop the venue.The Stronach Group transferred ownership on Monday to the state which will begin demolition to make Pimlico a year-round site for thoroughbred racing.All racing, training and wagering operations at the home of the Preakness Stakes will cease on Sept. 1. Site work and demolition is expected to start this fall.The 150th running of the Preakness Stakes will be held at Pimlico Race Course on May 17, 2025. The race will move to Laurel in 2026.Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed a measure in May to rebuild Baltimore's historic but antiquated race course and transfer the track to state control.Under the new law, Maryland can use $400 million in state bonds to rebuild the home of the second jewel of horse racing's Triple Crown.The process involves Maryland taking over control of the track, building a training center and eventually closing Laurel Park to shift full-time racing to Pimlico.The plan includes renovating the track surface and grandstand, adding additional stalls and a new training track, as well as redevelop the surrounding Park Heights neighborhood.
