Another 81 New York workers will be laid off this Fall when a Hudson Valley manufacturing plant is officially acquired by another company and moves out of state. It's a news story that seems all too familiar in the Hudson Valley. Fireworks set in City of Newburgh
CITY OF NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh will hold its annual Independence Day fireworks display on July 4. The fireworks display will be launched at 1 Washington Street (a.k.a. People’s Waterfront Park), at around 9 p.m. Setup time will begin at 6 p.m. To help protect public safety, 1 Washington Street will be closed to the public from the time of setup until the event has concluded.
Upgraded Rest Stop Opens on New York State Thruway
The New York State Thruway Authority is celebrating this week as one of the most traveled roads in New York become a little more "convenient" for Hudson Valley drivers. If you've ever found yourself driving on the New York State Thruway you know that every 50 miles or so there are service areas that drivers can use to fuel up, stretch their legs, use the restroom, and or get something to eat. The New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) currently has 27 service areas along the 500+ miles of controlled-access toll roads.

O’Brien concedes Conservative line to Ingrassia in NY-100 Assembly race
MIDDLETOWN – Camille O’Brien has conceded the Conservative line to Lou Ingrassia Jr. after losing to him in the 100th Assembly District Republican primary on Tuesday. Ingrassia defeated O’Brien 1,249 to 858 in the primary. The NY-100 consists of Middletown and Wallkill in Orange County and most of Sullivan County.
Darlington County Park – Mahwah, NJ
Darlington County Park is home to The Lakes at Darlington. It is located at 600 Darlington Ave in Mahwah which is in northern New Jersey. This park is a total of 127 acres and features swimming lakes in the summer. There’s also a Wibit obstacle course on one of the lakes, called the Splash Zone.
Army Track and Field Standouts Shine at 2023-24 Olympic Trials: Records broken by Brian Matthews and Brooke Stratman
The 2023-24 Army West Point track and field season concluded at the Olympic Trials with Brian Matthews placing 16th overall after running a 50.83 in the 400 hurdles semifinals. Brooke Stratman also competed, finishing 21st in the javelin event, leaving a legacy as the best javelin thrower in West Point history.
New TOR Bus Ferry Route Launches
Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced a new TOR bus route, the TOR Weekend Ferry Connection. The new route, which starts running this Saturday, on July 6th, will provide connecting transit service for the recently launched Haverstraw-Ossining Weekend Ferry. The bus will meet customers departing and arriving at the Haverstraw Ferry Landing on Saturdays and Sundays, and will have stops in downtown Haverstraw, Nyack, Rockland Lake State Park and the Palisades Mall.
Peekskill Senior Picnic Brings Food, Music, and Community Together
The Nutrition/Senior Services Department of Peekskill, New York hosted its yearly Senior Picnic on June 28th at the Riverfront. Seniors participated in the event, enjoying food and music. Cold Spring parking regulations take effect
COLD SPRING – It’s now official. Fees for metered parking on Main Street in Cold Spring from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been decreased from $4 per hour to $2 per hour while the maximum time allowed for metered parking has been increased from three to four hours with the minimum reduced from 60 to 30 minutes.
