Kuarantine, the non-makeup era KISS cover band featuring Chris Jericho, are gearing up for a short run of dates in the Midwest. The band will play shows in Chesterfield, Michigan (July 5), Franklin, Ohio (July 6) and Warrendale, Pa. (July 7).

In a recent interview with Youngstown Studio , Jericho talked all-things Kuarantine and non-makeup KISS, and he also shared who he thinks was the band’s best guitarist. KISS guitarists include Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley, Vinnie Vincent, Mark St. John, Bruce Kulick and Tommy Thayer.

“I appreciate KISS with makeup, but this non-makeup stuff is a million times better,” Jericho said of first getting into the band. “Maybe it’s not a million times better, but for me I still love that era of KISS. I still think that Bruce Kulick is the greatest KISS guitar player in history. To me, this era was so much fun with all this great material, that when KISS reunited in 1996 with Peter and Ace and put the makeup back on, all of that material got forgotten. And they would play a song here or there. ‘Heaven’s On Fire’ or ‘Lick It Up,’ but it wasn’t enough. I just thought, this era is so great, and it’s so catchy. And KISS was always great at morphing with the times. They start getting a little rough around the edges for ’70s dinosaur rock, so they do disco songs. Then they start doing really sappy pop songs in the early ‘80s when Little River Band was hot. Then heaviness comes back and they do ‘Creatures of the Night.’ Then they take the makeup off and do more Dokken-type stuff and Bon Jovi-type stuff. Then ‘Revenge’ comes, and they start doing Pantera-type stuff in a lot of ways.”

Kuarantine has recorded five non-makeup era KISS tunes to date including “Good Girl Gone Bad,” “Loves A Deadly Weapon,” “Heart Of Chrome,” “No, No, No” and “Silver Spoon.” For ticket information, visit Kuarantine.com . Jericho’s full interview can be viewed below.
