Indiana Woman Killed as Severe Storms Ravage Midwest, Over 460K Without Power
An Indiana woman, identified as 44-year-old Laura Nagel, lost her life in an incident during the tumultuous overnight storms that battered parts of the Midwest, specifically in Cedar Lake, Indiana. WRTV reported that a tree fell on her home late Monday night amidst conditions which saw winds escalating to destructive speeds, leading to a fatality that punctuates the trail of havoc wrought by the storm system.
Porter County, Valparaiso leaders condemn political violence
Porter County officials are among those speaking out against political violence. During Tuesday's board of commissioners meeting, Commissioner Laura Blaney said the board condemns Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. She called violence an affront to Democratic values and a threat to the principles of justice and the rule of law.

In a Facebook video Tuesday, longtime East Chicago public works employee Eddie Reyes said the damage is the worst he's ever seen. "Like a war zone," Reyes said. "There's branches everywhere.
