Cubs invite 19 non-roster players to big league camp at spring training

(670 The Score) With pitchers and catchers set to report to spring training next week, the Cubs have invited 19 non-roster players to their big league camp.

Those players are right-hander Colten Brewer, right-hander Chris Clarke, right-hander Carl Edwards Jr., right-hander Sam McWilliams, right-hander Ethan Roberts, right-hander Cam Sanders, right-hander Riley Thompson, left-hander Edwin Escobar, left-hander Richard Lovelady, left-hander Thomas Pannone, left-hander Brad Wieck, infielder David Bote, infielder Matt Shaw, infielder Chase Strumpf, outfielder Owen Caissie, catcher Jorge Alfaro, catcher Pablo Aliendo, catcher Joe Hudson and catcher Bryce Windham.

The Cubs' pitchers and catchers will begin their workouts next Wednesday at their camp site in Mesa, Arizona. The team's first full-squad workout is set for Feb. 19.

The Cubs open the regular season on March 28, when they visit the defending World Series champion Rangers in Texas.
