(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed outfielder Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain, they announced Monday evening.

In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled outfielder Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa.

Suzuki was off to a hot start, hitting .305 with three homers, 13 RBIs and an .893 OPS in 15 games this season. It wasn’t immediately clear how long Suzuki will be out, though he was sidelined about six weeks with a left oblique injury in spring training and to start the regular season in 2023.

Canario is the organization’s 10th-ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He hit .294 with one homer and six RBIs in six games for the Cubs in 2023.
