The Chicago Cubs have lost five games in a row following their 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Memorial Day. The offense continues to sputter at the wrong time as the two greatest threats to the Cubs' position in the NL Central standings are on the current stretch of the schedule. However, the clubhouse isn't hitting the panic button just yet.

Following a seven-inning shutout from LHP Justin Steele, the Cubs let the game get away late. Still, the team's ace is optimistic that the team will turn things around.

"Just keep pitching, just keep giving the team a good chance to win the ballgame, that's all I can do. We got a good club in there, we know its going to turn around. It's going to take one inning, or one game where we score 10 runs or something.

"We know what we have in there, you know? Everyone picks each other up. When the starter's struggling, the relief pitchers pick them up and vice versa. Same thing with the offense and the defense. We've got a good team in there and we know we're going to turn it around."

Steele was sensational for the Cubs in their loss to the Brewers. The lefty pitched seven innings of shutout ball, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters. Steele looked like his normal self, but the offense looked like its normal self of late. The bats are cold, and like Steele inferred, something needs to wake them up.

The team will have another chance to get back in the win column on Tuesday against the division-leading Brewers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CDT with RHP Ben Brown on the bump for the Cubbies. RHP Freddy Peralta poses a big test on Tuesday, but the offense will need to find a way to answer against the Brewers' lone ace.
