The Chicago Bears could become the next great dynasty in the NFL. Of course, that's easier said than done and history isn't on their side. But with a young star quarterback in Caleb Williams and nearly a total overhaul of the offensive skill positions thanks to GM Ryan Poles, this team could channel greatness.

The Bears' defense started to pull things together in the latter half of the 2023 season, adding players to that mix. Head coach Matt Eberflus is entering the third season at the helm of the Bears with his philosophies becoming the foundation of their success. Those teachings will only increase in comfort and efficiency.

Are the Bears the Next Dynasty?

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report ranked the top eight teams in the NFL that could become the next great dynasty. The Chicago Bears were eighth out of the bunch and for obvious reasons:

But there is more than meets the eye and the Bears are only good on paper, so far. The NFC North will be the ultimate litmus test for this team and when they can get past the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings with ease, then the dynasty conversation can truly begin.

What does that look like though? Do the Bears need to consistently win the division and be the perennial "team to beat"? The short answer is: yes. But the reality is, the Lions and Packers won't be easy to dethrone.

The Chicago Bears need more than just taking the division every year. They need to become the team that no one wants to see get into the playoffs. There will come a playoff push when the Packers or Lions are comfortably in the postseason and they are hoping for help around the NFL to ensure the Bears don't.

A dynasty isn't just the team that wins a lot; it's the team that's feared. With Caleb Williams leading the Bears' offense, that feat is actually possible.

Tom Brady's New England Patriots saw two decades of excellence but ten years went by between championships from 2004-2014. What happened in those ten years? The Patriots missed the playoffs once, lost two Super Bowls to Eli Manning and the New York Giants, lost three AFC Championships, lost twice in the divisional round, and once in the wild-card round.

    What's the point?

Even Tom Brady and the seemingly perennial Super Bowl champion New England Patriots saw adversity that brought their dynasty into question. But one theme remained throughout every single season New England didn't win a championship:

No one in the NFL wanted to see them in the postseason in both the AFC and NFC.

That's the status the Chicago Bears need to reach, beginning in the NFC North. When the Packers, Lions, and Vikings are routinely searching for ways to knock the Bears off the pedestal and playoffs are an assumption for fans, then the dynasty question can come into play.
