A Chicago woman disappeared after traveling to the Bahamas for a yoga retreat - with her mother saying she's " deeply concerned " about her disappearance as she said she believes she might be "in danger."

Taylor Casey, 41, was last seen on June 19 at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Paradise Island, according to a news release from her family. But a missing persons poster wasn't issued by the Royal Bahamas Police Force until two days later alerting the public to Casey's disappearance.

"We are deeply concerned for Taylor's safety and well-being," her mother, Colette Seymore, said in the news release. She traveled to the island and Nassau on Tuesday to meet with local authorities. She added, "I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return. Taylor would never disappear like this."

Yoga was reportedly Casey's passion — she had been a practitioner for 15 years. She had reportedly been looking forward to returning to Chicago after the retreat, where she hoped to share "her newfound knowledge and experience with others," the news release continued.

Now, the family is urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward as they added that "every lead is crucial in their efforts to locate her." She is a light-skinned Black woman, is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 145 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

The AP sent an email to the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Tuesday seeking comment on the woman's disappearance, but it wasn't immediately answered.

According to PEOPLE Magazine , however, the retreat confirmed her disappearance and told the publication that the retreat's organizers began to grow concerned after Casey didn't show up for class on June 20. They determined then that she had disappeared.

A Facebook page titled "Find Taylor Casey" was established by the family to help locate her, allowing anyone with information about her disappearance to post on the page.

Casey's friends reportedly said they looked through images and videos from the retreat, but they were unable to find her in any of them, the CSJ Report, a local independent outlet, reported.

Anyone with information about Casey's disappearance is being encouraged to reach out to the Royal Bahamas Police Force at 502-9991/2 or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 328-8477.
