Cape Carteret to accept $80,000 offer for Taylor Notion Road property
CAPE CARTERET — Cape Carteret will soon close on a deal to sell a 1.1-acre piece of a triangular residential property it bought in December 2023 at 100 Taylor Notion Road. The town began advertising the sale of the lot through the upset bid process earlier this month and quickly got a bid of $80,000. Under the upset bid process, the town had to wait 10 days to see if anyone offered more money, but no one did so by the June 27 deadline, Town Manager Frank Rush said Monday.

Three-car collision on N.C. 58 kills two Sunday
CARTERET COUNTY — Two individuals died following a three-car collision on Sunday morning on N.C. 58 near Peletier. According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, around 10:30 on Sunday morning 48-year-old Steven Shelton of Ayden was traveling north when he attempted to pass another vehicle and hit 64-year-old Dale Mangum, of Angier, head-on. CAMP LEJEUNE, NC – Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Family Medicine Residency Program graduated 10 physicians and 10 interns on June 28, 2024. “The goal of the family medicine residency program is to provide the medical and leadership training for the residents to become full-scope family physicians and successful Naval officers,” said Cmdr. Summer Latin Fiesta!
This year, the Summer Latin Fiesta will take place on Satuday, July 27th, 2024 at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center. The Fiesta is Onslow's largest and most diverse festival of Latin American culture, featuring live music and dance performances, visual and folk art exhibits, educational booths and activities for the whole family. Last year was their first year hosting this event and they had approximately 7,500 people attend. Their goal for this event is to raise funding to continue growing our organization while creating a space to celebrate the local Hispanic/Latino community. So get outside and enjoy this fun event!
