The San Jose Sharks were reportedly the other team interested in acquiring Vancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev before he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Mikheyev rejected a trade to the Sharks as they were on his 12-team no-trade list.

The Canucks were looking to shed salary, and the Russian's cap hit of $4.75 million didn't match his production. After coming off an ACL tear, Mikheyev started the season strong but faltered in the last 50 games.

In 78 games, Mikheyev had 11 goals and 20 assists. He scored his first ten goals in the Canucks first 21 games of the season.

The Canucks also included Sam Lafferty in the deal with the Blackhawks. Lafferty is a pending UFA.

The Sharks are in the market to add some quality players, and although Mikheyev's production wasn't there, a second year removed from an ACL tear usually means better health.
