Kate Martin Gets Knocked To Ground By Angel Reese's Teammate During Sky-Aces WNBA Game

The Chicago and the Las Vegas Aces are facing off during a WNBA game in Chicago.

In addition to these teams being among the most exciting in the league to watch, this matchup is especially enticing because it features two popular rookies, Angel Reese and Kate Martin.

Reese and Martin squared off multiple times in college when Reese was at LSU and Martin was on Iowa.

And while Reese was an immediate starter for the Sky, Martin receives less minutes for the two-time defending WNBA champions.

But Martin got some solid minutes on Thursday — and was on the receiving end of a hard blow.

Current Las Vegas Aces and former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Kate Martin (20) controls the ball against current Chicago Sky and former LSU Lady Tigers forward Angel Reese (10) in the second quarter in the finals of the Albany Regional in the 2024 NCAA Tournament at MVP Arena.

Martin was running around the court trying to stay with the player she was guarding in the second quarter.

And Reese's Sky teammate Diamond DeShields knocked Martin flat to the ground with a hard (but illegal) screen.

It was a hard shot that Martin clearly felt. Yet, the rookie got right up and kept playing.

She also drained a three pointer just seconds after entering the game.

Martin has become a fan favorite for her grit and toughness with the Aces.

And her handling this hard screen is another example of that.
