Streeterville pizza joint named one of the best in the US

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Streeterville pizza joint has been named one of the best in the world, and one of the top ten in the country.

Robert's Pizza and Dough Co., located on the Ogden Strip, was named the tenth best pizza in the U.S on 50 Top Pizzas in the USA by 50 Top Pizza. The top twelve pizzas in the U.S. get to attend the World Pizza Ceremony in Naples in September, and will be recognized as one of the “The Best 100 Pizzerias in the World” for 2024.

Robert Garvey, Founder of Robert's Pizza, was on the Noon Business Hour to talk about the honor and what it has been like to open a pizza business in Chicago.

“We felt that we just had something a little bit different and that we could, we would stand out. We do an artisan style pizza. It has a wild yeast sourdough starter, which I started 25 years ago and it kept alive somewhat miraculously,” Garvey said.

“In addition to that, we do a 2 to 3 day cold ferment on our dough. And we just have this great chewy crunchy crust with an artisan bread flavor.”

Garvey said he feels his pizza is a great addition to the Chicago pizza environment.

This is the fourth year that Robert’s Pizza has been named one of the Top 50 Pizzas in the U.S.

The Streeterville pizza place is one of three Chicago pizza places named on the Top Pizzas list. Spacca Napoli in Ravenswood took the 23rd spot and Coda di Volpe in Lakeview came in at 47th.

Another Ravenswood pizza place also made the list of the 50 Top Pizza Slice USA 2024 . Jimmy’s Pizza Cafe’s was named the ninth best pizza slice in the U.S.
