Bulls All-Star center ends stint in Chicago, surprisingly signs with 76ers

A player from the 2023-24 Chicago Bulls has signed a new contract with another team for the first time this offseason.

Andre Drummond has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers worth north of $10M, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The Bulls have known for weeks that Drummond did not intend to return to Chicago.

Still, Drummond landing in Philadelphia, of all places, is slightly surprising given that the 76ers have both Joel Embiid and Paul Reed on their depth chart at center.

As Reed's contract is not guaranteed, Drummond's arrival in Philadelphia could be the first hint about what the 76ers intend to do with Reed moving forward.

Drummond's tenure with the Bulls has officially come to an end, and it was about as productive as Chicago could have hoped for when it signed Drummond 24 months ago to a two-year, $6.6M deal.

Drummond, a two-time All-Star, appeared in an impressive 146 games for the Bulls over two seasons, averaging 7.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, numbers that become even more respectable when one takes into account Drummond's limited 15.1 minutes per game played during that span.

Drummond's 57.4 field goal percentage in Chicago was the highest of his career among teams he's played at least 30 games for.
