(670 The Score) The Blackhawks continued a busy Monday as NHL free agency opened by bringing back one of their former players.

The Blackhawks have signed forward Teuvo Teravainen to a three-year deal worth $5.4 million annually, the team announced. Teravainen, 29, had 25 goals and 28 assists in 76 games with the Hurricanes last season. He spent the last eight seasons in Carolina.

Teravainen made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks as a prized 19-year-old prospect late in the 2014 season and was part of Chicago's Stanley Cup championship team a year later in 2015.

"We're thrilled to have Teuvo back in Chicago," Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said in a statement. "He was a big part of our 2015 Stanley Cup team, and we're excited to have his leadership and experience back in our room."

The Blackhawks traded Teravainen to the Hurricanes in June 2016 along with veteran forward Bryan Bickell, whose contract was being offloaded in the deal. Chicago originally selected Teravainen at 18th overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.

The Blackhawks also reached agreements with forward Tyler Bertuzzi, goalie Laurent Brossoit, defenseman Alec Martinez, center Craig Smith and forward Pat Maroon, according to reports Monday.
