CHICAGO — The West Coast fast food chain Jack in the Box is headed back to the Chicago area.

CEO Darin Harris spoke with the Chicago Tribune and said the company plans to open stores in New Lenox, Naperville, Plainfield, Carol Stream, Tinley Park, Lake in the Hills, Countryside and a Chicago location near Midway.

They are planned for next year and could linger into 2026, the Tribune reported. Jack in the Box said they also plan to open up franchise-owned stores in the area.

Harris told the Tribune they hope to eventually open around 125 stores in the area.

“This strategic expansion into Chicago allows us to not only satisfy long-standing customer demand for our brand, but also to become a key member in the region’s thriving restaurant scene,” Harris said in a press release. “We’re excited to bring our unique menu where customers can order any item at any time – day or night and we’re confident Jack in the Box will quickly become a favorite local destination.”

Jack in the Box came to the Chicago area in the late 60s and left in the 1980s.
