CHICAGO — A flight from Chicago to San Francisco returned to O’Hare International Airport around midday Wednesday after crew reported a pressurization issue, a Federal Aviation Administration official confirmed.

United Airlines Flight 343, a Boeing 737-900 carrying 163 passengers and six crew, landed safely, the FAA official and an airline spokesperson said.

Tracking data from FlightAware.com shows the flight circling back across Illinois after passing over the Mississippi River in Iowa while en route to California.

The flight later resumed on a different aircraft, an airline spokesperson said.

The FAA will investigate Wednesday’s incident.
