Fans Discrediting Angel Reese's WNBA History With Viral Roast

    By Grant Young,

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has had one heck of a WNBA season.

Over the past week alone, Reese has been named to the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, won WNBA Rookie of the Month for June, and set the WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles in a season.

But some fans are calling that last accolade into question with a viral post.

On July 2, X user @jayisbacc posted a video of two people pretending to be Reese, where they're throwing a basketball off a backboard repeatedly, grabbing their own rebound, and eventually making a layup.

The post (which is meant to mock Reese's low shooting percentage and propensity for grabbing her own rebounds) has over 5 million views.

While the post has gone viral, not everybody agrees that the roast is entirely accurate.

"Are they forgetting she’s getting these rebounds over 3-4 others, oh avg a dbl dbl. CLarke Avg 6 TO a game and her team trash," one X user wrote in response.

"Why they trying to clown her? Not her fault the defense can’t snag her rebound before her," said another.

Given Reese's notoriety, it's no surprise some fans will try to discredit her success every chance they can.
