Bulls have young duo to develop with new Patrick Williams contract

According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, Patrick Williams has agreed to a five-year $90 million deal with the Chicago Bulls. The deal will see the former lottery pick earn $18 million annually for the next five years , with the final year being a player option.

Since joining the Bulls, Williams has emerged as a bright prospect. He has tremendous upside as a wing defender who can slide to the point of attack and an offensive threat who converts his perimeter shots at a career 41% clip. With Williams' new deal, the Bulls have tied down one of their best young prospects while also giving themselves a highly tradable contract, should a "can't miss" opportunity arise.

Chicago now has two high-level prospects to build around. The addition of Josh Giddey in the Alex Caruso trade has ensured the Bulls have a young duo they can develop in the coming years. Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu will be core pieces of the rotation moving forward, too.

Despite failing to secure any future draft picks in their recent moves on the trade market, the Bulls appear to have a plan. They have added balance to their roster and positioned themselves to begin developing talent in-house. Giddey will enter restricted free agency next summer; assuming he has a strong season, the Bulls will likely look to secure his long-term future.

Chicago has a young duo to be excited about. They aren't the contending team the front office had hoped for, but they look set to make incremental steps in the coming seasons. Whether by design or not, Williams and Giddey are the two cornerstones of the Bulls' rebuild moving forward.
