Chicago Bears Pro Bowl CB Doesn’t Hold Back On Caleb Williams

Coming into the 2024 NFL Draft, Jaylon Johnson was vocal about his expectations of the incoming rookie quarterback for the Chicago Bears. With the negative press Caleb Williams received as the most likely outcome to be the Bears’ pick with their first selection, Johnson’s message lit a fire within the team’s fanbase.

Prior to the draft, Johnson joined Up & Adams to speak with Kay Adams about the possibility of Williams joining the Bears as his new teammate.

“You just humble yourself coming in the building. You can’t bring that Hollywood stuff into the building, especially not with guys who have played this game at a high level for consecutive years in the league … We’re gonna see through that. What you did in college, the Hollywood stuff, it’s like nah, you gotta prove yourself.”

However, now that Johnson has practiced with Williams, his tone on the rookie quarterback is more clear.

Jaylon Johnson opens up about Caleb Williams ahead of rookie season for Chicago Bears

Bears training camp kicks off on July 16, with the rookies getting a few days to themselves before the veterans report to camp.

About a week before camp kicks off, Johnson joined Jim Rome to discuss what he’s seen from Williams this offseason, and Chicago fans should be excited about how this leader views the rookie quarterback.

In fact, Johnson was shocked to see how wrong people were about Williams now that they’re in the same building together each day.

“It’s kind of a weird situation to be able to see him in person and kind of think, like, what was everybody talking about? What were the issues, the concerns? I mean, he fits in perfectly.

Before being selected with the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams’ character was often questioned for reasons that didn’t matter on the football field.

Whether it be the fact that he paints his nails or wears funky clothes, Williams couldn’t escape people who didn’t know him dragging his character through the mud.

Now, however, Johnson and other Bears leaders have spoken up, dispelling any reason to believe the false narratives created about their rookie quarterback.

The biggest thing for Caleb Williams moving forward is to bring wins to the city of Chicago. If he can do that, there shouldn’t be any issues with him being considered anything besides a star in a city that’s been yearning for one that lasts.
