The Chicago Sky are in the midst of a two-game series with the New York Liberty. On Thursday, the Liberty took game one 91-76 in New York. The second game is in Chicago on Saturday, July 13.

Sky rookie Angel Reese has been the star of the team throughout the 2024 WNBA season, being the only Chicago player named to the All-Star team. But guard Chennedy Carter has also helped guide the team to a playoff position, leading the Sky in scoring.

In the second game against the Liberty, Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon made a crucial decision regarding Carter. After a rough first half with zero points, Weatherspoon did not start Carter to begin the third quarter.

Weatherspoon went with backup guard Michaela Onyenwere over Carter in the second half. Onyenwere had 12 points in the first 20 minutes, validating Weatherspoon's decision.

WNBA fans were still not pleased with Weatherspoon's choice and voiced their frustrations on social media.

In 2024, Carter is averaging 16.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. Despite only starting 10 games this season, Carter still leads Chicago in points per game by a significant margin.
