Chicago Sky Coach Sends Clear Shot At WNBA Officials After Sky-Liberty

The Chicago Sky suffered a 14-point loss against the streaking New York Liberty, 81-67. This defeat caused their record to drop to 9-15, and Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon spoke about the loss, throwing a clear shot at the WNBA officials.

The Sky attempted only four free throws during the match, one of which came in the second half. Despite their aggressive nature and dominance in the paint with rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, the team couldn't find a rhythm on the offensive end.

"Our team plays really dang hard. This team plays freaking hard… Take a look, how many free throws we get? Take a look, we’re freaking aggressive too. We’re aggressive to the rim… We get 3-4 free throws? One in the second half? Okay, enough said," Weatherspoon said.

Weatherspoon explained that Chicago needs to improve on the defensive end, allowing their opponents to go over 80 points in four of the last five games. However, she signaled toward the officiating crew for their offensive struggles.

Three technical fouls were assessed in the game, all of which were against the Sky. Marina Mabrey, Angel Reese and even Coach Teresa Weatherspoon were each given a technical foul at different points in the contest.

Weatherspoon was clearly frustrated with the game's outcome, having picked up the final technical foul late in the fourth quarter.

Chicago will look to bounce back from their back-to-back losses to the Liberty, set to compete against the Las Vegas Aces on July 16 at 10 p.m. ET.
