Training camp officially begins on Tuesday for 14 of the newest members of the Chicago Bears' roster who are scheduled to report back at Halas Hall.

The Bears' rookie class and undrafted free agent signings will return to the practice field a few days early before the rest of the veterans join them on July 19th. For most teams, quarterbacks aren't permitted to arrive at camp early with the rookies, which isn't a problem for the Bears since rookie quarterback Caleb Williams will be there.

According to the team's schedule, the Bears will hold their first practice on Saturday, July 20th. However, head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles will address the media prior to the start of camp on Friday.

Having the extra days of practice will be useful for each of the returning rookies . The extra days will especially be beneficial for Williams following the break as he continues to take command of the new offensive system . Defensive linemen Austin Booker, Keith Randolph Jr., and Jamree Kromah will also get to take advantage of having an increased number of reps without the veterans present under loosened regulations relating to rushing the passer.

Williams and a few members of the offense held secret workouts during the summer break after the team wrapped up minicamp. The last time we truly saw the team's offense, the unit was slowly coming along putting together the new offensive scheme.

Undrafted quarterback Austin Reed is another rookie who will likely see some value reps, depending on if fellow quarterbacks Tyson Bagent and Brett Rypien show up early or not. If those two don't report until Friday, it will be a great opportunity for the former Hilltopper signal-caller to make an early impression on the coaching staff.

Even though practices will be closed to the public and the media until July 26th, we could also receive an update on third-round rookie Kiran Amegadjie, who missed OTAs and minicamp, from Eberflus during his media availability. Amegadjie has been rehabbing from a torn quad suffered during the 2023 season at Yale and hasn't been able to fully practice with the rest of the offensive line yet.

Also in attendance at Halas Hall this week will be the crew filming HBO's documentary series "Hard Knocks" with the first episode releasing on August 6th.

Five days before that, the Bears will be facing off against the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame game . The game will be the first of four preseason games in which the rookies will have a chance to show off their skills on their new teams for the first time in live action. The Bears will also be holding joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals on August 15th at Halas Hall prior to their scheduled preseason game.
