    2 businesses burglarized overnight on Far South Side and Northwest Side, police say

    Chicago police said a liquor store in the Calumet Heights neighborhood and a retail store in the Avondale neighborhood were burglarized overnight.

    Shortly before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of a burglary at a liquor store in the 9300 block of South Stony Island Avenue and found the front door pried open. An investigation revealed items were taken from the business, police said.

    About 4 a.m., a retail store in the Avondale neighborhood in the 3200 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized, police said.

    Officers responded to a call of a burglary and found the front glass door shattered and merchandise was stolen, police said.

    No one was in custody for either burglary and detectives were investigating.
