The WNBA will conclude their first half of play on Wednesday, as the 2024 All-Star break will extend until August 15th. This allows WNBA stars to compete for their respective countries in the upcoming Paris Olympics, while allowing non-Olympians to recharge for the second half.

This break in the WNBA schedule also allows teams to reevaluate their roster and potentially make trades. In a report on Wednesday from Annie Costabile of Chicago Sun-Times , it was announced that the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun are finalizing a major WNBA trade.

At the time of Costabile's report, the full terms of this deal are still unclear, but tshe revealed the agreement would send Marina Mabrey to the Sun in exchange for Moriah Jefferson, draft picks, and possibly an additional player.

Mabrey is averaging 14.0 PPG in 24 games (all starts) for Chicago this season, but her efficiency is the worst it has been since her rookie season. Converting on just 38.1% of her field goal attempts and 35.0% of her three-point attempts, Mabrey has struggled with her shot this season.

In an official announcement from the Sun, the full terms of the deal were revealed:

This is a unique trade between two teams currently in the playoff picture, as the Sun (18-6) have the WNBA's second-best record, while the Sky (10-14) are holding onto the eighth seed, which is the final playoff spot.

Mabrey was selected 19th overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft, and has put together a solid career for herself. A career 11.9 PPG scorer, Mabrey's best season came last year in Chicago when she averaged 15.0 PPG in 39 games.

Mabrey is one of four Sky players currently averaging double-figure scoring, with Chennedy Carter, Angel Reese, and Elizabeth Williams (nine games played) being the others.
