The Chicago White Sox had a busy All-Star break of reported roster shuffling, and five transactions became official Friday. Before returning to action against the Kansas City Royals, the Sox added Brooks Baldwin and Chuckie Robinson to the roster and designated Martin Maldonado for assignment as previously reported. In a new development, the club recalled Steven Wilson from Triple-A Charlotte and placed Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list.

A right shoulder strain is ailing Michael Soroka, whose placement on the IL is retroactive to July 16. The righty began the season in the starting rotation but struggled immensely, resulting in a move to the bullpen. Soroka posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.465 WHIP with 71 strikeouts against 42 walks in 72.1 innings before the All-Star break.

In Soroka's place, the White Sox will call on Steven Wilson, who's endured an up-and-down first season on the South Side. The 29-year-old owns a 3.46 ERA and 1.346 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and 17 walks across 26 innings this season.
