Bears WR Keenan Allen makes it very clear where he and D.J. Moore rank among the NFL's top receiver duos

It's absolutely wild to think about what the Chicago Bears offense has evolved into, on paper, ever since Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus inherited the team in 2022.

It's more than a night-and-day difference: it's a complete reshaping of the roster, identity, and philosophy. The Bears didn't even have a true No. 1 receiver back in '22 and now, they have three guys who can be the top guy on any team in the NFL.

One of those guys is Keenan Allen, whom the Bears traded for back in March. The 12th-year player is coming off a Pro Bowl season in which he recorded over 100 receptions and 1,200 yards, along with seven touchdowns, despite missing the final four games of the season.

Allen and incumbent D.J. Moore, who should've made the Pro Bowl, himself, will hopefully form one of the NFL's fiercest wideout duos in the NFL.

Allen, himself, already sees the two as tops, regardless.

"Duos? I don't even know who else has a duo. Give me another duo," Allen asked reporters as they stumbled while trying to name another pair.

"[Miami Dolphins wideouts] Tyreek [Hill] and [Jaylen] Waddle are pretty good. [But] it's me and D.J., come on, now."

There's actually an argument to be made in Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore's favor

Ultimately, yes, the Hill-Waddle combo is the league's deadliest WR duo. A big reason why is both players can take any reception to the house, at any moment. Allen and Moore each have skill sets that are great in their own respects and each skill set complements the other, but they are not as near as explosive, as a duo, as Hill and Waddle.

Still, when looking at things from a numbers standpoint, the Allen-Moore combo could easily be argued as the league's second-best duo, at worst.

Hill and Waddle led the league with a combined 191 receptions and 2,813 receiving yards in 2023. Their 17 combined receiving touchdowns were second behind only CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks (20). Hypothetically, if Moore and Allen were both on the Bears, last year, their 214 combined receptions would've led the NFL and they would've been the only WR duo to record 90+ catches, each, along with at least 1,200 receiving yards, each.

Their combined 2,607 receiving yards would've been second and the 15 combined touchdowns would've tied for fourth-best. To be fair to the hypothetical, it would've tied for fifth-best, when accounting for the Houston Texans' new duo of Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins.

And when naming the league's best duos, it's easy to see how Allen and Moore are right behind Hill and Waddle:

    • Bucs' Mike Evans and Chris Godwin
    • Cincinnati's JaMarr Chase and Tee Higgins
    • Eagles' A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith
    • Minnesota's Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison
    • Rams' Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp
    • San Francisco's Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk
    • Texans' Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins*

And the wild part is, we haven't even brought up rookie wideout Rome Odunze's name, yet. In all, the Bears offense has a chance to be very special in 2024, as the unit is loaded, talented, and experienced.

Now, it's just all about making it come together.
